- People: 90% of Zambians belong to the nine main ethno-linguistic groups: the Bemba, Nyanja-Chewa, Tonga, Tumbuka, Lunda, Luvale, Kaonde, Nkoya and Lozi. High proportions of each group are found near the Cooperbelt. Nearly half of the population is urban while the other half is rural subsistence farmers.
